Takashi Oishi is a Professor at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, Kobe, Japan. His areas of interest include history of modern South Asia and the Indian Ocean world. One of his principal research themes is the socio-economic context of Japanese manufactured goods imported into India from the late nineteenth century onwards.
