The Kizuna India Japan Study Forum (KIJSF) is aimed at promoting the study of under-researched aspects of India-Japan historical and cultural interactions by holding lectures on a monthly basis. This will open avenues for all young and old researchers/scholars to share and exchange their work encapsulating rich history and contacts between the two countries in trade, business, economic, cultural, philosophical spheres. This would not only enhance mutual understanding but also strengthen the foundations of rapidly expanding multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

A practicing artist, Professor (Dr.) Rajeev Lochan, Former Director, National Gallery of Modern Art, had been at the helm of affairs of the institution for over 16 years (from 2001 to 2016). The aim of Prof. Lochan has been to take art beyond the four walls of any institution and engage the mass in vibrant cultural activities. He has mounted innumerable exhibitions and had contributed enormously in the academic realm, both nationally and internationally. Having taught postgraduate students at the universities in the capital for over two decades and lectured at various forums, he has extensively contributed to the larger understanding of creative expression at the level of the masses as well as the academic discipline. Having been conferred a D. Litt. from Kyoto City University of Arts, Kyoto, Japan and awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Omani Society of Fine Arts, Sultanate of Oman, along with many other awards as part of his recognition in the discipline. He lives and practices in Delhi.
